here strings and symbols

This page is part of the web mail archives of SRFI 75 from before July 7th, 2015. The new archives for SRFI 75 contain all messages, not just those from before July 7th, 2015.

It struck me that the new lexical syntax for symbols is also just a 'here string',
albeit with the fixed key "|".

Wouldn't it make more sense to have two forms of 'here string,' one within
a line and one spanning several lines, and then having a modifier indicating
string or symbol?
